🏅I attended the ‘Olympic Day’ event organized by the French Embassy in Thailand at Benjakitti Park, promoting the Paris Olympic Games 2024 @paris2024.
Visitors got to try out various Olympic sports, and I couldn’t resist trying fencing since my nephew Quentin @quentin.fencing, a talented 21 year old fencer who won many medals 🥇 and competed in the 2023 SEA Games, has always piqued my curiosity with his passion.

🤺I had my first 15-minute fencing trial, and it was exciting! The coach introduced me to the different blades (foil, épée, and sabre) and scoring target areas. We also covered basic movements and defenses, which reminded me a lot of Krav Maga🥋 with its emphasis on parries, counters, stress management, reflexes and precision.

🤩It was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend fencing if you enjoy sports that require reflexes, speed, and precision.

🌟A huge thanks to the French Embassy @franceenthailande @sawasdeefrance for this fantastic opportunity, and for the organization of this great event. Visitors could try out many Olympic sports, including Break Dance (new), archery, and sailing.

Defense against 5 common attacks from behind 🔥👊

Learn how to effectively defend yourself against 5 types of attacks from behind with these essential Krav Maga techniques!

1️⃣ Bear hug with arms trapped
• Strike with the palm to the groin.
• Hit the shin and/or stomp the toes with the heel.
• Uppercut kick to the genitals if possible.
• Release the arms and turn around with a backward elbow or hammer fist strike.

2️⃣ Bear hug with arms not trapped
• Lean forward and elbow backward repeatedly to the face.
• Hit the shin and/or stomp the toes with the heel.
• Uppercut kick to the genitals if possible.
• Release the arms and turn around with a backward elbow or hammer fist strike.

3️⃣ Rear choke with forearm
• Grab the wrist and pull down.
• Palm strike to the groin.
• Turn under the arm and control the attacker’s arm (option: arm lock with takedown or multiple strikes).

4️⃣ Rear choke with a push
• Step forward and raise the arm.
• Turn around with hammer fist strike to the ribs.

5️⃣ Rear choke with a pull
• Hook the attacker’s hands downwards while moving backward diagonally.
• Palm strike to the groin followed by an elbow strike to the chin.
• Turn around and strike (possibility of wrist lock).

At just 8 years old, this young prodigy already boasts 20 fights under his belt. You’re perhaps witnessing the emergence of the future Lumpinee champion.

In Thailand, it’s common for fighters to begin their training from a very young age. Often hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds, they are entrusted to training camps by their families early on, with the hope of seeing them become great champions or at least ensuring a professional boxing career to support their needs and help their families.

In these camps, these young warriors in the making develop their techniques, but more importantly, they forge their determination and legendary fighting spirit under the guidance of their coaches.
